Anitos were idols worshiped by some Filipinos before the coming of the Spaniards. It was believed that anitos were souls of ancestors and that they held magical powers, some for good and others for evil. This tradition was slowly purged by the Catholic Spanish and is nearly nonexistant today except for in very remote regions.

Anito is also a name of a computer game in the Philippinesby Anino Entertainment inc. The game is a role-playing adventure that follows the history of Tersiago, a future leader of a rebellion. This leader struggles to restore order in a land controlled by powerful elders.
