Annamocarya

Annamocarya is a genus of flowering plants in the family Juglandaceae, containing only one species, Annamocarya sinensis, native to southwestern China (Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan) and northern Vietnam. It is related to the hickories, and was formerly included in the same genus Carya, as Carya sinensis, but also shares a number of characters with the walnuts in the genus Juglans. It has no widely used English name, but is sometimes called Beaked Hickory.
It is a medium-sized to large deciduous tree growing to 30 m tall. The leaves are 30-50 cm long, and pinnate with 7-11 leaflets. The leaflets have an entire margin, which distinguishes it from Carya where the leaflets have a serrated margin. The flowers are catkins produced in spring, with the male catkins in clusters of 5-8 together (single in Carya). The fruit is a nut 6-8 cm long and 4-6 cm broad, with a prominent acute beak at the apex.
