Generally, an apparition is the act or instance of appearing.
- In astronomy, certain sightings of celestial bodies are called apparitions.
- An apparition is an appearance to a human of a ghost, phantom, or other supernatural being such as God or Satan, or an appearance of a living person not physically present by ostensibly supernatural means. In colloquial speech, the word often refers simply to a ghost.
- * In Christianity, especially in Catholicism, a number of apparitions of the Virgin Mary are celebrated.
- "Apparitions" was a highly successful single by the Matthew Good Band, from their 1997 album Underdogs.
