The Arlington Million is a race for thoroughbred horses age 3 years and upward. It is raced at 1 and 1/4 miles on the turf at Arlington Park. The race was introduced in 1981 by Richard Duchossois, the owner of Arlington at the time. The track famously ran the Arlington Million in 1985 under the shadow of a burnt out stand, the victim of a fire the previous night. John Henry succeeded in winning the race twice.
