Armada Online is a sci-fi shooter video game, that plays almost like an Asteroids RPG. It currently features a PvP scenario where up to 8 players per team (two teams - factions) engage in combat with each other, team based allies, as well as the Armada aliens. The player(s) collect funds to buy power-ups for their ship, increasing speed, power, health, and adding a variety of powerful abilities, allowing them to defeat the Armada, set up space colonies and eventually defeat the other team's base. All six races from the original Armada are present as well, each with their own unique ships. Each race offers specialized systems and performances, which allow for dramatically differing styles of play being equally effective.

As of early 2006, the game is currently in open alpha test.

Background

In 2005, EvStream purchased the rights for Armada.
The Armada Online development team consist of members from the original Armada development team.
