Artapanus
Encyclopedia : A : AR : ART : Artapanus
Artapanus of Alexandria is a historian, of Jewish origin, from the 2nd century B.C. He wrote about the history of the Jews but his books didn't survive.
His works have been preserved in the books of two later historians:
- Eusebius of Caesarea in his book "Præparatio Evangelica" ix. 18, 23, and;
- Clement of Alexandria in his book called "Clement's Stromata" i. 23, 154.
