Asosa

Asosa is a town in western Ethiopia and the capital of the Benishangul-Gumaz Region (or killoch) of Ethiopia. Located in the Asosa Zone, this town has a latitude and longitude of , with an elevation of 1570 meters.
Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Asosa has an estimated total population of 20,226, of whom 10,929 were males and 9,297 were females.[CSA 2005 National Statistics], Table B.4 According to the 1994 census, which is the latest official population count for Ethiopia, Asosa had a population of 11,749. It is also the only town in the woreda of Asosa.
This town has an airport with an unpaved runway. The airport's IATA code is HASO, and its ICAO code is HASO.
During the Ethiopian Civil War, with help from the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front, the Oromo Liberation Front captured Asosa from the Derg in February 1991, and held the city for a brief time.
