Associated British Ports Holdings plc is a holding company that owns and operates 21 ports throughout the United Kingdom. ABPH manages around 25% of the UK's sea borne trade. As well as operating ports, the company is also involved in logistics and supply chain management services in the UK. AMPORTS is a subsidiary based in the United States.
History
The British Transport Docks Board was formed in 1962 as a government managed body for various ports throughout the UK. This was changed in 1983 when the British Government allowed the company to become a public limited company quoted on the London Stock Exchange.
