The General Studying Committe (German:Allgemeine Studierendenausschuss) or AStA, is the acting executive body and the external agency for Universities in most German states. It represents to a certain extent the student government. AStA committees are usually seleceted by the studying parliament and consists of one or more chairmen as well as a set of advisers from different fields of study.
