Atk thirumalai was known as the man of simplicity. He was a pioneer in running a bus transport service in 1960s in north Arcot District Tamizhnadu, Chennai. he belongs to prestigious Reddiyar community. He worked for Indian National Congress. His uncle Ramachandra Reddiyar won the legislative assembly election in 1952 for congress contested against Thiru Devaraja Mudaliyar (Atk Thirumalai Reddiyars transport business partner) in Thiruannamalai constiuency. Atk was born in a village named Karungalikuppam 17km from Thiruannamalai .He had influenced with then cm mr kamarajar. Whenever Mr. Kamarajar tours Tiruannamalai he asks for Atk to drive the car as Atk drives safely. He had maintained a fleet of buses (around 30 nos) in 1970s (joint venture), as he was too good in business he decided to uplift some of his people in Reddiyar community. With his effort two more companies created their own bus transport business. After few years the people who benefited from Atk Thirumalai, betrayed him despite his gesture. As he got fed up with the things happened he provoked and again he floated a new transport company, his successor still runs the company which owns 2 buses running in the thiruannamalai district.
