Atobe Katsusuke
Encyclopedia : A : AT : ATO : Atobe Katsusuke
Atobe Katsusuke (1529-1582) a retainer of the japanese clan of Takeda during the Sengoku Period of the 16th century. Katsusuke was one of the closest advisers to Takeda Katsuyori (son and successor of Takeda Shingen). Katsusuke became very well known (in an infamous way) by advocating the fact that the Takeda clan should go on the attack during the Battle of Nagashino, which ended up with a crushing defeat for the Takeda. After the Oda/Tokugawa alliance invaded the prime domain of the Takeda (Kai) following the year of 1582, Katsusuke was captured and killed in the province of Shinano. One of the sons of Katsusuke (Oinosuke Masakatsu) would serve under Tokugawa Ieyasu following the Battle of Nagakute.
