Atropos

Encyclopedia : A : AT : ATR : Atropos

In Greek mythology, Atropos was the third of the Moirae. She was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as the "inflexible" or "inevitable." It was Atropos who chose the mechanism of death and ended the life of each mortal by cutting their thread with her "abhorred shears." She worked along with Clotho, who spun the thread, and Lachesis, who measured the length. They were the daughters of Zeus and Themis (the goddess of order.) It is not clear whether Zeus was superior to the fates or if he was subject to them as mortals were. Her Roman equivalent was Morta.
Atropos is also the name of a popular artistic alternative fashion model.
