Auður Jónsdóttir is an Icelandic writer born in 1973. She is the granddaughter of Halldór Laxness. Her writing career began with short work in 1997 and by 1998 her first novel was nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize. She has went on to win the Icelandic Literature Prize in 2004 with her latest novel Fólkið í kjallaranum. (The People in the Basement) She also writes Young adult and children's literature. She currently lives in Copenhagen with her husband.
