Auštaras means eastern wind in
Lithuanian dialects and may be treated as a masculine deity (one of the eastern wind) in
Lithuanian mythology. According to various reconstructions he is keeper of Dausų Vartai (Gates of
Dausos), a son of
Aušrinė and Mėnulis.
