Coordinates: Aukra is a municipality in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway.

Aukra is the site of Norway's best-known shipwreck and rescue operation of the 1900s, of the cargo vessel Rokta April 4, 1938. The monument of Rokta is situated on Rindarøy, with a view of Galleskjæra where Rokta sank.

Nyhamna on the island Gossa in Aukra is the location where the pipeline from the enormous gas field Ormen Lange comes onstream in 2007. Local politicians expect a lot from the land-based production facility. Especially the taxes – which in their opinion far exceeds the externalities put on the inhabitants of Gossa.
