The AusIRC Network is fully serviced Australian IRC Network for the Australian Community, feel free to connect to irc.ausirc.net, or come and talk to us in #AusIRC, or setup your own channel!

AusIRC (formerly known as the Aus3D IRC Network) supports a user base of about 500 (mostly) Australian users, and is home to a variety of local gaming communities; including Q3F, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Battlefield 1942, and its associated gaming clans.

AusIRC began as an IRC server for the Aus3D news website. It began accepting connections on Wednesday the 11th August 1999. Its sole channel was #aus3d. The network grew significantly in mid 2001 when the Australian Q3F community moved from the oz.org network to setup their channels here. The network grew once again in 2002 with the release of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and its subsequent community. Channel counts continued to grow as the RtCW community set up their home on the network.

As its popularity increased, so did its load. So from originally a single server in Victoria, AusIRC expanded initially with a server in WA (provided by Alpha), followed by another in Georgia, US (provided by Xor). Recently added to the network is the ACT server provided by Kieran.

The Aus3D IRC Network became known as AusIRC in November 2002. Thanks to the ongoing support of the local gaming community, it continues to grow at a slow but steady rate.
