Austin Asche

Keith John Austin Asche was born in Melbourne on 28 November 1925. He was raised in Darwin and Melbourne. He was Administrator of the Northern Territory from 1 March 1993 to 16 February 1997. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 1986 and in 1987 was appointed Chief Justice. He was Chair of the Council of the University College of the Northern Territory from its foundation in 1986 to the formation of the Northern Territory University in 1989 when he became its first Chancellor. He resigned as Chancellor on his appointment as Administrator. Before returning to Darwin he was a Judge of the Family Court of Australia in Victoria and was Chancellor of Deakin University

He is a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) and a Queen's Counsel (QC).
