Established in 1933, the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) is an independent, non-profit organization seeking to promote interest in and understanding of international affairs in Australia. It is headquartered in Deakin, Australian Capital Territory.

It provides a forum for discussion and debate, but does not formulate or promote its own institutional views. It publishes the quarterly Australian Journal of International Affairs, edited by Professor Wiliam Tow of the Australian National University in Canberra.

Recent developments (2005-2006) within branches of the AIIA has seen an influx of student members. The success of this growth has in large part been attributed to successful International Careers Conferences held in Sydney and Melbourne.

This growth of younger AIIA members has also given rise to the formation of two youth networks which share the same objectives as the AIIA. The youth networks known as ACCESS aim to engage members 35 years and under. The first ACCESS group to form was ACCESS NSW (2005) closely followed by ACCESS VICTORIA (2006).
