The Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS) is a senior high school (year 10,11, 12 and adults) in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia on the Flinders University campus. The goal of the school is to prepare its students for university, particularly in the fields of mathematics and science. The school operates very differently to most other schools, emphasising a love of learning in both students and teaching staff. Freedom is given to students to take control of their own education; this can range from the negotiation of assignments to school-supported industry projects with companies and employers. The ASMS combines best practice use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with forward thinking to promote the widespread introduction of ICT in Australian schools. It promotes itself as being "Not a conventional school. And not for conventional students. It is designed to transform those who learn best by self-determined discovery and feel they could achieve far more given responsibility, choice, understanding and encouragement."
