Awara (; -shi) is a city located in Fukui, Japan.
As of October 1, 2005, the city has an estimated population of 31,080 and the density of 265.66 persons per km². The total area is 116.99 km².
The city was founded on March 1, 2004 from the merger of the towns of Awara and Kanazu.
Awara is a city famous for its onsen. There are many in and around the city where one can go to have a bath and relax in the natural hotwater springs.
