Axel Gyllenkrok

Axel Gyllenkrok, or Gyllenkrook, born August 16, 1665, died September 17, 1730, was a Swedish baron, military general, and from 1723 governour of Gothenburg. He is most known as the general quartermaster of King Charles XII of Sweden.
After the King's defeat in the Battle of Poltava (July 8, 1709), Gyllenkrok followed the King to the Ottoman Empire, but was captured by the forces of Peter I of Russia at a mission in Poland. He was imprisoned in places such as Siberia, and did not return to Sweden until 1722.
