Aydın Province

Aydın is a province of Turkey, and it is located in southwestern Anatolia, more specifically in the Ege Bölgesi (Aegean Region). The center or the capital of the province is the city of Aydın with a population of approx. 150,000 (2000).
In ancient and classical periods, the area of Aydin Province comprised part of Caria. Aydın Province contains numerous important archeological sites, including the ancient Carian cities of Alinda and Alabanda.
