Aykut Kocaman

Aykut Kocaman, born on May 4, 1965 in Geyve, a town in Sakarya, Turkey, is a successful former Turkish footballer in striker position and recently a coach.
Before he made his debut in 1980 with the amateur club Kabataş Altınmızrak in Istanbul, Kocaman performed gymnastics at the club Eczacıbaşı, winning 40 medals and reaching second place at Turkey’s national level. In 1984, he moved to Sakaryaspor in Adapazarı, Sakarya and, became a professional. Then in 1988, Kocaman signed a contract with Fenerbahçe SK, where he played and contributed much to success of his club until he was sold to Istanbulspor in 1996. He was actually fired from Fenerbahçe despite his championship bringing goal in the last game of the season against Trabzonspor. His gentile words and his regret for the beaten rival team appearently angered the club president Ali Şen. Kocaman played a short spell for Adanaspor and later four seasons for Istanbulspor and, retired in 2000 as active player.
Aykut Kocaman served then as coach of his club Istanbulspor for four successive seasons. In 2004, financial problems at Istanbulspor forced him to move and, he signed a two years contract to coach Malatyaspor. He resigned in March 2005 from his duty at Malatyaspor. He coached Konyaspor in 2005-2006 football season. He will coach Ankaraspor in 2006-2007 football season.
Aykut Kocaman is seen as the future coach of Fenerbahce SK.
He is married to Arzu and they have two daughters.

- Twice Premier Super League champion (1988-1989 and 1995-1996 at Fenerbahçe),
- Three times top goalscorer (1988-1989, 1991-1992 and 1994-1995 at Fenerbahçe),
- 12 times national team player and scorer of one goal,
- 200 goals scored in his career, ranking fourth in Turkey after Tanju Çolak, Metin Oktay and Hakan Şükür.
