Azael also Aziel, Azazel, Asiel, Hazazel. A demon, one of the angels involved in the fall from Heaven, one of the princes of the Watchers who descended to earth to couple sexually with mortal women in the Book of Enoch and the Book of Genesis. Azael is named in the Hebrew Book of Enoch as one of the chiefs of the fallen angels.The Book of Enoch Azael is described in The Apocalypse of Abraham as having 7 serpent heads, 14 faces, and 12 wings. Jewish legend speaks of Azazel as the angel who refused to bow down before Adam (In the Koran the angel is Eblis or Iblis) when the first man was presented to God to the assembled heiarchs in Heaven, Islamic legend states that when God commanded the angels to worship Adam and Azazel refused, he contended "Why should a son of fire [i.e., an Angel] fall down before a son of clay [i.e., a mortal]?"
