Bärenjäger
Encyclopedia : B : BR : BRE : Bärenjäger
Bärenjäger is a honey-flavoured liqueur based on vodka, made by Teucke & König in Germany. It has a declared alcohol content of 35% alcohol by volume (ABV).
It was first developed in the German province of East Prussia at the 15th century. The company at that time was known as Teucke & König Bear Trap Company, Koenigberg/Pr. There is, in fact, an image of a trapper trapping a bear on the bottle.
Bärenjäger is made to the original Bärenfang recipe- literally "Bear's trap" German: "Baerenfang"), and is still known to some people by that name.
