Béarnais

Encyclopedia : B : BA : BAR : Béarnais

Béarnais is the French name given to the language spoken in the former French province of Béarn in the south-west of the country. Bearnese is probably the correct term in English. Still spoken today, it was the official language of Béarn until the French revolution. It is described as a dialect of Gascon itself part of the Occitan Language.
