Böblingen is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, seat of Böblingen District.
History
Böblingen was founded by Count Wilhelm von Tübingen-Böblingen in 1253. Württemberg acquired the town in 1357. On 12 May 1525 one of the bloodiest battles of the Peasants' War took place in Böblingen. Georg III. Truchsess von Waldburg attacked a force of 15,000 armed peasants; 3,000 were killed. By the end of the Thirty Years' War in 1648, the population of Böblingen had been reduced to 600.After the establishment of the Kingdom of Württemberg, Böblingen became the seat of an Oberamt (administrative unit) in 1818. The town was connected to the railroad network in 1879, allowing industrialization to take place. In the context of administrative reform in 1938, Böblingen Oberamt became Böblingen Landkreis (district). In 1962, Böblingen was designated a Große Kreisstadt ("main district city"); its current extents were reached in 1971 when it was merged with the municipality of Dagersheim.
Religion
The population of Boeblingen originally belonged to the diocese Konstanz and was to the Archidiakonat "ante nemus" subordinated. There the city already early to Wuerttemberg belonged starting from 1535 by duke Ulrich the reformation was introduced also here, therefore Boeblingen was over centuries a predominantly Protestant city. In that time the city became seat of a Dekanats, whose Dekanatskirche is the town church. The church municipality Boeblingen increased after the Second World War due to influx strongly and therefore was divided. The Martin Luther municipality (church of 1960) and the Paul Gerhardt municipality (church of 1962) developed. The two municipalities form the Evangelist total church municipality Boeblingen together with the town church municipality. In the populated area Diezenhalde developed 1990 still the Oekumeni community center "father ours" together with the Catholic church. Also in the quarter Dagersheim was introduced due to the early affiliation to Wuerttemberg the reformation. The there Evangelist church municipality celebrates its services in 15. Agathenkirche, which belonged since 1476 of the University of Tübingen, built century. The municipality belongs like all Boeblinger church municipalities to the Dekanat Boeblingen within the Evangelist regional church in Wuerttemberg. There are Catholics in Boeblingen only again since late 19th century. For it 1895/99 its own church pc. Bonifatius were built. Boeblingen became its own parish in 1910. A second Catholic church (pc. Clemens) was built 1959, which was raised 1961 to the parish. 1963 were built the church pc. Maria and raised 1965 to the parish. 1990 developed then still the "father unser" municipality in the Diezenhalde as Oekumeni community center with the Evangelist church. All municipalities form the common Seelsorgeeinheit 2. In the quarter Dagersheim was built for 1958 the church Christ the King and raised 1961 to the parish. This municipality forms a common Seelsorgeeinheit 9 together with the Sindelfinger municipalities "Auferstehung Christi", "Maria Koenigin of the peace" and "to the holiest Dreifaltigkeit". Both Seelsorgeeinheiten belong to the Dekanat Boeblingen of the diocese gang castle Stuttgart. Beside the two large churches there is free churches and municipalities, among them the South German community, the Evangelist Methodist church, the Evangelist-freechurch municipality (Baptisten), the free Evangelist municipality, the Adventgemeinde and the people mission of decided Christians in Boeblingen also e. V. Also the Neuapostoli church is represented in Boeblingen.Population history

Traffic
The crossover between the federal motorways (Autobahn) A 8 and A 81 (peppering castle - Gottmadingen) lies not far northeast from Boeblingen. In the north of the city A 81 lead past. By means of the connection points Böblingen east, Boeblingen/Sindelfingen, Boeblingen Hulb and Ehningen the city can be attained. Furthermore the federal highway B 464 (Sindelfingen - Reutlingen) runs by the city. B 14 leads past Boeblingen. Böblingen lies to the Gaeubahn (Stuttgart - singing (Hohentwiel)) and with regional and city express trains is once per hour served. Additionally Boeblingen with the line S1 is attached to the rapid-transit railway net Stuttgart. In the year 1996 the beautiful book course was re-activated after Dettenhausen. With the reactivation of the climbing brook course after Renningen 2004 were begun. Beside the station Boeblingen gives it the following further stops on Boeblinger to gemarkung: Rapid-transit railway: Gold mountain and Hulb; Beautiful book course: Danziger road, Boeblingen south, hay paste route and room impact. Furthermore numerous buslinien operate in the city. All lines operate traffic and tariff group at uniform prices within Stuttgart (VVS).Military
In Böblingen, barracks of the American armed forces are present. The Army post is named Panzer Kaserne, which is German and means, Panzer (tank) Barracks. It is home to Green Berets of the 1st battalion of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Additionally, the United States Marine Corps Forces Europe (MARFOREUR) occupy this post.Education
- Germans have two lower levels of school, Kindergarten and Grund school (grades 1-4), and three upper levels of school, Hauptschule (grades 5-9), Realschule (6-10), and Gymnasium (5-13). Teachers and parents decide at the end of the fourth grade which level of school the child should attend based on accademic preformace and aptitude.
- In Boeblingen there are three Grund/Hauptschulen combination schools, Eichendorff Grund-und Hauptschule (GHS), Theodor Heuss GHS and Rappenbaum GHS. It has seven independent primary schools: Eduard-Moerike, Erich-Kaestner, Friedrich-Silcher, Justinus-Kerner, Ludwig UHL, William Striking, and Dagersheim.
- Boeblingen has two Realschules, Albert-Schweitzer and Friedrich-Schiller; there are four Gymnasiums, Albert-Einstein, Lisa-Meitner, Max-Planck and Otto-Hahn Gymnasium), and offers two special-needs schools (Pestalozzischule).
- There are several vocational schools to include: The Academy for Data Processing of Boeblingen and the Commercial school of Boeblingen, as well as the Biotechnological High School and Ernaehrungswissaftlichen High School.
- Other schools include: (loosely traslated) The Private Old Person Care School of the Workers' Welfare Institution Nordwuerttemberg, The Free Evangelist School of Boeblingen, The Free Rudolf Steiner School of Boeblingen/Sindelfingen, and the Private Technical High School in the Education Center of Boeblingen of the International Federation.
Museums
- Tenth-scrub (1593 build), accommodated today the urban gallery Boeblingen and the farmer war museum (with tin figure diorama and many text boards).
- German butcher museum, in a half timbered house (painted walls on the inside) accommodated.
Buildings
- The Evangelist parish church at the market place is the landmark of the city. The church was destroyed in the Second World War and rebuilt again after the war. The former lock was not however no more developed after the destruction in the war.

- City celebration ("Boeblinger fair") in the July, which takes place approximately around the lock mountain.
- Since 1996 annually summer at the lake "takes place also over 60 single meetings (e.g. concerts, flea market, etc.) approximately around the again-arranged seas from June to Septembers of the" Boeblinger.
