B&K Universal

B&K Universal is a company that supplies laboratory animals and other services. It is based at Grimston, Aldbrough, Hull in the UK, but has a franchise in Fremont, California.
It was formerly known as Bantin & Kingman. The firm offers beagles, rhesus monkeys, cynomolgus monkeys, and rodents.
It has been targeted by animal rights activists. There are regular demonstrations outside their premises and there has also been illegal direct action against the company.
In January 2000, the Animal Liberation Front firebombed trucks at a US franchise of B&K in Fremont, California. [link]
In March 2006 [Northern Animal Rights Network (NARN)] began focusing its attention on B&K Universal with the aim of closing them down. In the first week, three companies ceased trading with the breeders and the campaign continues to fight for the closure of B&K.
