BL games (also known as yaoi games) usually refer to H games oriented around homosexual couples, though they can be any male/male dating sim. The defining factor is that both the playable character(s) and possible objects of affection are male (BL stands for Boys' Love).
BL is the term used in Japan for what many Westerners would call shounen ai, though shounen ai would be taken as a reference to pedophilia by the Japanese. Usage of BL has not caught on in English-speaking fandom, possibly due to the fact that the phrase 'boy love', conversely, has pedophilic associations in the United States.
