B C Joshi

General Bipin Chandra Joshi, of the Indian Army, raised the Rashtriya Rifles, a counterinsurgency force, in 1990 specifically for fighting an insurgency in Kashmir. He was head of the Army from 1993 to 1994, when he died of a heart attack. In his career, he also served as a staff officer with the UN peacekeeping force in the Gaza Strip.
