Baek Doo San is a character in the Tekken fighting game series. He is a Tae Kwon Do Fighter and mentor of Hwoarang.
Story
Tekken 2
He first appeared in Tekken 2 as the sub-boss of Marshall Law. According to the storyline, Baek accidentally killed his father during a sparring session, which left him in doubt over his own skills. As a result of his father's death, Baek went on a rampage, destroying several dojang's. One of the worst hit happened to be Law's. The two met at the second Iron Fist tournament.Baek's ending shows him sitting on a bench outside a park. He takes out a locket containing a photo of him and his father. Baek reminisces about his training sessions with his father, remembering the great person he was and how much he loved him. Remembering his father for the man he was, Baek finally forgives himself for killing him, finding peace within himself.
Tekken 3
According to the Tekken 3 storyline, Baek was presumed dead after encountering Ogre the fictional Aztec God of Fighting. One of his closest students, Hwoarang, entered the third Iron Fist Tournament to exact revenge for his master's death and to have a rematch with Jin Kazama, the only fighter he had ever fought to a draw.Tekken 5
Several characters from the Tekken 2 lineup returned in Tekken 5, Baek included. According to the Tekken 5 storyline, his encounter with Ogre had left him in a coma, not dead as initially presumed. He woke up over a year later, after Hwoarang had already competed in the third Iron Fist tournament. Baek began teaching Tae Kwon Do at military bases. Hwoarang was drafted into the South Korean Military, but he ran away to compete in the fourth Iron Fist Tournament. When he was arrested by the South Korean Military Police, he was informed that Baek was alive. Two months later, Hwoarang completed his service and Baek asked him to enter the fifth Iron Fist tournament. Baek also entered the tournament to test his student's skills.
Baek's ending in Story Battle mode shows Hwoarang about to fight a group of three men around his age. Baek then steps in, disapproving Hwoarang's street fights. After one of the men attacks Hwoarang, Baek easily takes out all three. Baek walks away, dragging Hwoarang behind him. Seeing as this only shows a situation after the tournament, and does not suggest who won, this ending will most likely be canon. This, however, won't be revealed until the next Tekken game, which will be on the Playstation 3.

Trivia
- The name "Baek-Du San" is that of a mountain that is split in two by the North Korean-Chinese border. It is treated almost like a national monument by the South Koreans.
- Namco, having broken the traditional Japanese/English language barrier, allowed Baek to be voiced by a Korean-speaking voice actor for Tekken 5.
- In Tekken 2, Baek can be one of the ten characters the player starts with. If the "New Character" test setting is set to "Baek & Lei", another fellow Tekken character, Jun Kazama is a stage 8 mid-boss that can only be beaten using Marshall Law.
