Bakar

Bakar (Italian: Buccari) is a town in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county in western Croatia, population 1,566 (2001), total municipality population 7,773 (2001). Old part of the city is situated on a hill overlooking the Bay of Bakar.
Its coat of arms features a checkered top with three local castles and an anchor colored in black on the bottom. The checkered red and white are at the top, the dark blue sky, the green grass and the grey-bricked castles are in the middle and the orange part is at the bottom.
Bakar is also a Croatian word for copper.
