Ballard Berkeley (August 6, 1904 - January 16, 1988) was a British actor best known for his role in the British sitcom Fawlty Towers, in which he played the character of Major Gowen. Similarly, he portrayed a retired military man in The Archers. He also played a starring role in Fresh Fields, was Uncle Greville in To The Manor Born, and appeared once in The Avengers.
He was born in Margate, Kent, England.
