Barbara Anne Ferris, the second of five children, was born July 14, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ferris ran as an Independent in the 2004 election for Ohio's [10th district] United State's House seat. Dennis Kucinich, the Democrat, received 60% of the vote, Edward Fitzpatrick Herman, the Republican, received 34% of the vote and Barbara Anne Ferris received 6% of the vote.
She has a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the American University.
