Barbara Pittman (April 25, 1939 - October 29, 2005) was one of the few female singers who recorded at Sun Studio. As a young teenager she recorded some demos of songs for others. She was around the Studio a lot and was a friend of almost all who recorded there. She did records of her own. Her most popular recordings were "I Need A Man" on Sun label and "Two Young Fools In Love' released on Sam C. Phillips International label. It is thought that she could have had much more success except that she did not receive much promotion.
Barbara always loved singing. As a child she spent time at her uncle's pawn shop on Beale St. She heard the blues music there. She really became very serious after winning a talent contest. The families of Elvis Presley and Barbara Pittman were friends.
She spent time working in Lash LaRue's western shows. After Sun, she did some of the motorcycle movies for young people. She still performed some live performances until the end of her life.
