Barceloneta is a municipality of Puerto Rico.
Barceloneta was founded by Don Bononcio Lenza Feliú on July 1, 1881. It was one of the last municipalities created by the Spanish government in Puerto Rico. Barceloneta was named in honor of Barcelona, Spain where the founder was born. Located in the north coast of the island, it is bordered by: the Atlantic Ocean to the north, the municipality of Florida to the south, the municipality of Arecibo to the west, and the municipality of Manatí to the east.
Area: 62.0 sq km / 24.0 sq mi
Population: 22,322 (census 2000)
Demonym: Barcelonetense
