Barry Hankerson

Barry Hankerson is an African-American record producer. He is the founder of Blackground Records, a label he created in the early 1990s and continues to run with his son, Jomo Hankerson.
Career
Hankerson was once a television producer and a politician in Detroit, Chicago.He managed and produced The Winans and produced Ron Milner's play "Don't Get God Started" in 1988.
Personal life
Hankerson was formerly married to soul star Gladys Knight, and was the uncle of Blackground's biggest star, Aaliyah.
