Basis Team

A team of IT workers (usually System Administrators) installing and supporting computer systems based on SAP AG Basis software.
Basis is a set of middleware programs and tools from SAP (Systeme, Anwendungen, Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung), a German software company.
BASIS is one of the many SAP modules, Basis refers to the Administration of the SAP system itself upon which all the other modules are laid.
Due to the nature of the underlying SAP Basis module, an SAP Basis Team will usually require an accomplished knowledge of the Operating Systems and Databases used in conjunction with the SAP software.
Common Basis Team Activities
Common Basis Team tasks include:
- Installation of SAP components
- Application of Support Packages released by SAP
- Transportation of Developments between environments
- Management of user Roles and Authorisations
- Client administration (Creating/Copying etc.)
- Administration of underlying Databases
