Batch

A batch is a group of similar items produced, processed or gathered together and treated as a single unit.

Batch is an adjective used to describe when in production:

Batch production - a method used to produce or process any product in groups that can be called batches, as opposed to a continuous production process. For example baked goods such as cakes are typically produced in batches, while oil refineries (including biodiesel ones) often use continuous processes.
Batch processing of tasks by a computer, in which processing-intensive activities are grouped and processed as units, rather than being processed immediately on demand.
Batch renaming of computer files, which allows a user to easily change many filenames at once, usually by using specialized software.

Batch is also a term used in northern parts of Somerset, England for a coal spoil heap - see batch (coal mining).

Batch is also a term used in the Midlands England for a bread roll with a soft crust, often used as a base for breakfast items such as bacon, tomato and/or egg.
