Battle of Red Mountain

Encyclopedia : B : BA : BAT : Battle of Red Mountain

In the fictional world of [[The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind|Morrowind]], the Battle of Red Mountain was the turning point of House Dagoth, the Sixth House of Vvardenfell, when Dagoth Ur was ordered to be sent to Red Mountain to defend the tools that made the Dwemer, or Dwarven people vanish from existence.

The battle

Lord Nerevar had gone to battle with the Dwemer forces to secure Krognac's tools.

Dagoth Ur, at the time of securing the tools, requested the destruction of said tools. However, Nerevar, wounded from the war, rejected that request. Dagoth Ur became tempted and corrupted by the powerful Dwemer tools and became evil, to which Nerevar had to act.

Nerevar defeated Dagoth Ur, and left him, and his minions, for dead. Nerevar however, was seriously injured during the battle. Soon after he had defeated Dagoth Ur, Nerevar died. However Dagoth and his minions were still alive, albeit in a dormant state.

The native Dunmers tell of how Nerevar had actually been murdered by Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil whose intentions were to capture the tools and use them to become Gods.

Aftermath

Upon his awakening in 2E 282, Dagoth Ur was a mad God bent on domination, his original intention was to avenge Nerevar's supposed murder by destroying his allies the [[The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal|Tribunal]]. He later turned against every Dunmer (native people, Dark Elves) that hadn't been converted to his side. The main plotline of [[The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind]], deals with the Nerevarine, and the foiling of the awakened Dagoth Ur's plans.
