It took place at Sisak, now central Croatia. Hassan Pasha led the Ottoman forces, while the forces of the Holy Roman Empire was led by the Freiherr of Eggenburg.
The battle restored the balance of power and brought the expansion of the Ottoman Empire into Central Europe to a halt and allowed the duchies of Carniola, Carinthia, and Styria (then collectively known as Inner Austria) and Croatia to remain free from Turkish control, while the Habsburgs managed to affirm their position in those territories.
