Bay Farm Island
Encyclopedia : B : BA : BAY : Bay Farm Island
Bay Farm Island is an area of the United States city of Alameda, California, near Oakland. It is divided from the main island of Alameda by a drawbridge. Bay Farm Island is adjacent to the Oakland International Airport, in addition to being an affluent neightborhood, it is also the location of a municipal golf course, a high tech industrial park and the headquarters of the Oakland Raiders.
An interesting point to note is that Alameda was once a peninsula and was later divided from the mainland to create an island, while Bay Farm Island was once an island, later to be added to with land reclamation to become a peninsula, adjacent to the Oakland Airport.
