Sydney is renowned for its beaches and, with its warm climate, attracts people to the beaches almost all year round. Sydney's beaches are either ocean facing, such as the internationally renowned Bondi Beach, or harbour beaches, such as Balmoral Beach. The ocean beaches are usually divided into the Northern Beaches, north of the entrance to Sydney Harbour and those to the south, in the eastern suburbs and Cronulla.

Sydney also has beaches around Pittwater to the north and Botany Bay and Port Hacking to the south.
