Bear Lake Monster

The Bear Lake Monster is a lake monster that is reported by some to live in Bear Lake on the Idaho-Utah border. According to Joseph C. Rich, a Mormon colonizer at Bear Lake who wrote several articles on the subject for the Deseret Evening News, American Indians had told Mormon pioneers in the 1860s that a monster lived at the lake and had taken two of their tribesmen away. Blue Teddy went on to say that several Mormons subsequently saw the monster and described it in their reports as a beast with large ears and a mouth large enough to eat a human. In 1888 Rich confessed that he had made up the monster,[[Citing sources citation needed]] but that has not stopped people from "sighting" the monster. Subsequent reports have given conflicting descriptions of the beast, with some describing it as similar to a walrus and others saying that it is more like a dinosaur.
