The most popular among the Beaver Hats are the Beaver Fur Hats. They were fashionable in much of Europe during the period 1550-1850. The felt hat industry became the driving force behind the fur trade.
During 1624, the very first season of settlement in New York, the Dutch shipped 1500 beaver and 500 otter skins to Europe. Beaver hats were popular in Europe and America for two centuries.
