Beavercreek is a city in Greene County, Ohio, United States. The population was 37,984 at the 2000 census. In 1979, a part of Beavercreek Township was incorporated and became the City of Beavercreek in February 1980. Beavercreek includes the areas known as Knollwood, Zimmerman, New Germany, and the village of Alpha. The township includes the area known as Trebein.
Geography
Beavercreek is located at (39.729359, -84.062310), approximately five miles east of downtown Dayton[Geographic references#1GR1].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 68.3 km² (26.4 mi²), all land.
Demographics
As of the census[Geographic references#2GR2] of 2000, there were 37,984 people, 14,071 households, and 11,087 families residing in the city. The population density was 555.7/km² (1,439.2/mi²). There were 14,769 housing units at an average density of 216.1/km² (559.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 93.45% White, 1.42% African American, 0.17% Native American, 3.50% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.31% from other races, and 1.13% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.14% of the population.There were 14,071 households out of which 35.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.7% were married couples living together, 5.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.2% were non-families. 17.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $68,801, and the median income for a family was $75,965. Males had a median income of $55,270 versus $33,572 for females. The per capita income for the city was $30,298. About 1.5% of families and 2.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.9% of those under age 18 and 3.7% of those age 65 or over.
