Becky Garcia (born 13th September 1983) is a female boxing prospect from Mesa, Arizona. Her nickname is La Guerrera (The Warrior). Her father is Mexican, her mother is German.
Garcia's father did not approve at first of her daughter's selection of boxing as a career, as he considered boxing to be a manly sport.
Garcia fought 19 bouts as an amateur before deciding to become a professional boxer. She was undefeated as an amateur, but her main reasons for turning professional were the lack of important international amateur tournaments in women's boxing and that women's boxing would not be accepted as an Olympic sport officially until the 2012 games. She spoke about those being the two main reasons not to continue in amateur boxing during a press conference held two days before her first fight as a professional.
Garcia signed with Bob Arum's Top Rank enterprise, and on December 5, 2003, she debuted with a four round decision win over Elizabeth Mongue in Phoenix.
On her second professional bout, against Eugina Abel, on March 26, 2004, she won by a knockout in only twenty seconds of round one.
Currently, her professional record stands at two wins, no losses, with one win by knockout.
