Beladingala Baale is a 1995 Kannada movie starring Anant Nag. It is based on a Telugu novel titled Vennelalo Aadapilla by Yandamoori Veerendranath which was translated and serialised in Prajavani, a Kannada daily newspaper. Both the Kannada and Telugu titles loosely translate to "lady in the moonlight."
Plot details
The movie revolves around a chess grandmaster who gets telephone calls from an unknown woman fan; on phone, she more than matches his wits and moves in chess. She does not reveal her name but calls herself the "lady in the moonlight." The story progresses as the protagonist tries to reach her in various ways. Finally, she asks him to meet her one night at a particular place. Do they meet and who the lady is forms the climax of the story.
