Belanova

Belanova is a Mexican electronic pop band made up by Denisse Guerrero (vocals), Edgar Huerta (programming and keyboard), and Ricardo "Richie" Arriola (bass and guitar), all originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco. The band was formed in 2000, but they were not signed under a record company until 2002, when they were signed under Virus Records, Mexican Dance Label, part of Universal Music.
Their first album was titled "Cocktail" and was released in 2003. The first single on the album was "Tus Ojos" ("Your Eyes"), which became popular due to a Mitsubishi publicity campaign. In 2005 they released a new album called "Dulce Beat", which became known in the Latin American music market thanks largely to television stations such as MTV. The first single on the album was "Me Pregunto" ("I Ask Myself"), which was followed soon after by "Por Ti" ("For You").
Their music, especially in "Cocktail", has heavy bossa nova influences. The group has had major success in Spain, Japan, and all of Latin America, and is now currently working on its third album. Supposedly, they are planning to work with "Moby", "Jamiroquai", and "Luis Fonsi".
Belanova's video "Por Ti" has the record of most weeks in the Top 20 of MTV and they are sharing the record with My Chemical Romance's video "Helena" with 28 weeks each one.
The Meaning Behind the Name
In a recent interview with the Spanish channel Galavisión, Denisse revealed that "bela" means "beauty" in French and they used "nova" as in new.Discography
