Belarus was one of 72 nations that sent athletes to the 1998 Winter Olympics that were held in Nagano, Japan. This is the second Winter Olympics and third Olympic competition for Belarus since forming their own national team in 1994.
Events
Hockey
The Belarusian hockey team was seeded in Group D, along with the United States, Sweden and Canada. They only scored 4 goals throughout the group round and had 15 goals against them. Due to that performance, they received 0 points (0-3-0-0) and did not advance to the next round.Medals
Belarus only medaled twice, out of nine events, and both of the medals were bronze. The medals were earned by Dmitri Dashchinsky in Aerial and Aleksei Aidarov in the biathlon.

Trivia
- In a video game released that was related to the Olympic Hockey tournament, Belarus was represented with the Pahonia flag and with the national anthem of the former Soviet Union.
